About Me

I’m Rachel Keeton, an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist based in Sheffield. I offer therapy both online and face to face, creating a safe, supportive space where you can explore what’s happening for you.
I’ve named my practice, Ra Counselling, as in rays of sunlight, because I love the sunshine and watching sunsets. I find the weather to be a great analogy for life because no matter how dark times get, there are always rays and glimmers hiding behind those stormy clouds. Therapy is a great way of uncovering the rays and bringing them to light.
As a child I was very creative and musical but my lack of confidence got in the way of my dreams. I was also obsessed with personal growth and constantly reading ‘self help’ books. I loved helping others with their problems and it was then that a new dream evolved – to become a Psychotherapist.
I’ve seen how powerful therapy can be in helping people reconnect with themselves. My interest in personal growth and healing began through my own life experiences — navigating loss, anxiety, and then supporting neurodivergent children. These experiences deepened my empathy and understanding, shaping the compassionate way I now work with clients.
I get to witness the most amazing changes in my clients lives and it takes job satisfaction to another level. I’ve seen clients move homes or cities, change careers, navigate challenging relationships, and become more confident, assertive, and in touch with themselves. I’ve witnessed people’s relationships flourish — both with themselves and with others — and even seen improvements in physical wellbeing as mental health strengthens. I’ve helped people to find healthy coping strategies to navigate complex neurodivergent wiring.
I’m passionate about helping you move towards a greater sense of balance, meaning, and self-acceptance. I would be honoured to join you on your journey of self-discovery, helping you to explore your inner world whilst I listen and support you. I truly believe that my own skills and life experience can help you to bring about the changes you need in your own life.
My practice continues to evolve as I develop my work with Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy, and creative approaches.
Outside of work I love to spend time with my family and friends, walking in nature and planning holidays by the sea. I love discovering things that enrich our lives and give more meaning, balance and peace to our often stressful worlds. I have experienced many different cultures and lived in different countries so I understand how it feels to stand out and differ from the crowd.
I’m a registered member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS) and I’m committed to working ethically and professionally in everything I do. I receive regular supervision and I have DBS clearance, Public Liability Insurance and I am registered with the Information Commissioners
