My Approach

What To Expect From Me

People often tell me that I’m really easy to talk to and connect with – friendly, down to earth and someone they can be themselves around to explore their thoughts, feelings, memories, and behaviours at their own pace. I believe that connection is one of the most important parts of therapy — feeling comfortable enough to open up and know that you’ll be met with warmth, humour, and genuine care.  The relationship we build together is at the heart of the work I do. I believe that real change happens when you feel truly seen and understood, so I’ll always meet you where you are — no pressure, no judgment, just honesty and kindness.

My approach is client-led and integrative, meaning we work together collaboratively, using techniques that suit you and your unique needs.  Everyone’s different so I work really hard to find out what feels right for you.  I draw on a range of ideas such as working with different ‘parts of self’ and how they interact with each other.  We can work with Mindfulness where we notice your thoughts and feelings without judgement whilst quietening down the mind.  We can apply some principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy which focus on accepting yourself, committing to actions aligning with your values and developing self-compassion whilst reducing self-criticism.  We can explore your inner-child and connect and heal with the vulnerable, often unmet part of yourself through re-parenting.  We can re-tell your story through narrative therapy and use creative approaches, helping you understand yourself, manage difficult emotions, and make choices that align with your values.  And we can look at coping mechanisms and grounding techniques to help calm down a heightened nervous system.  We will do regular reviews to ensure that we are working towards your therapy goals.

Psychotherapy can help you uncover and release patterns or beliefs that may be holding you back, enabling greater self-awareness, self-acceptance, and empowerment. Together, we’ll support your journey toward healing, growth, and living a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.  We can bring new perspectives to how you view or feel about yourself and your life situation.  We will work towards integrating changes into your daily life to empower you to live by your truth and live a more meaningful life.  Over time, therapy can help you to feel more grounded, more connected to yourself and able to navigate relationships and life’s challenges with more confidence.  Most clients see a gradual lifting of symptoms within the first month and significant improvement thereafter.

You might feel nervous or unsure about how therapy works, but my clients often comment on how quickly they feel at ease with my friendly, relatable style and the guidance I provide along the way.  They say the therapy feels natural, relaxed, and even brings some lightness and laughter alongside the deeper work.  If you’re looking for someone real and approachable, who’ll listen, guide and help you make sense of things in a way that feels like you, then it’s worth getting in touch to see if we are the right fit.
